PERSONA: please use anywhere from eight to fifteen traits that would describe your character and give reasons why this trait applies to them.
[REASONABLE]- Jacques is quite the reasonable man, being the provost of the merchants. He can give reasonable deals that equally benefit both parties. He has used this ability more than once to get himself out of trouble. If he were to do something terrible, he could probably deal himself out of it.
[GENEROUS/CHARLATAN]- Jacques could be called generous. In fact he was one of the few wealthy Frenchman who helped the lower class population. Even when passing beggars on the street he gives a few sou. In reality he isn't very generous at all, indeed he pays the beggars the minimum price, in order to be informed of the latest going-ons. Of course he doesn't tell anyone the truth, so everyone just assumes he's a kind, generous person.
[WEALTHY]- Being not only a nobleman but part of the Knight's Templar has given Jacques a very large pool of resources to draw on. If he wanted to he could buy a small estate out of the country. If he were to do something terrible, he could probably buy himself out of it.
[HEADSTRONG]- Almost unreasonably so. Even if it's obvious that if he were to walk the street alone, that he'd get mugged, kidnapped, and murdered as part of the revolution. He'll still dandily walk down that street with his head held-up high.
[ORATOR]- He's good at public speaking, knowing the right words to say and even having a bit of wisdom regarding body language and subconcious gestures. If he were to do something terrible, he could probably talk his way out of it.
[UP-TO-DATE]- Jacques stays on top of the latest news, at least he tries to. He considers it a very important thing. It's a rumor that he'll pay beggars pocket change in return for what they've seen that day. He also tries his best to stay ontop of the latest devices, fashions, etc.
[FENCER]- Way back when he was a boy, he used to practice a lot of fencing. Although he hasn't done any practice recently, the art is still quite fresh in his mind. He could deadly if he were to get his hands on a rapier. Although if he were to get into a fight, he'd try to deal, talk, or buy his way out of it. That being said, even if he were to do something terrible, he could probably fight his way out of it.
[DOYEN]- He has been a member of the Knight's Templar for quite some time now, effectively a senior member of the group (but still not in very high standing). He is... respected, by many a Templar.

HISTORY:
ACCORDING TO ENGLISH WIKIPEDIA:
Jacques de Flesselles (1721, Paris – 14 July 1789) was a French public servant and one of the first victims of the French Revolution.
On 21 April 1789, after serving as Intendant of Lyon (1768–1784), he became the last provost of the merchants of Paris, a post roughly equivalent to mayor. Accused of royal sympathies by an infuriated throng surrounding the Paris City Hall in the afternoon after the storming of the Bastille, he was assassinated, shot by an unknown hand on the steps of the City Hall while trying to justify his actions, one of several representatives of the ancien régime killed that day.
Also, he played a key part in the arrest of Robespierre, because as a Public servant, he was one of the few wealthy Frenchmen who helped the lower class population. The Painting by Jean Victor Schnetz is a painting that depicts the storming of the Hôtel de Ville. It was the same Hotel where Robespierre was shot in the jaw, but is also referred to in Charles Dickens's A Tale of Two Cities.
ACCORDING TO FRENCH WIKIPEDIA:
Flesselles Jacques, Comte de Bregy, lord of Champgueffier en Brie and La Chapelle-Iger , born in Paris on 11 November 1730 from a family of Picardy dress and shot in Paris on 14 July 1789 , is a director French . With the Marquis de Launay , he was among the personalities, one of the earliest victims of the French Revolution .
Jacques de Flesselles was the nephew of Bossuet , Bishop of Troyes. He was an advisor to the parliament of Paris in 1752 (January 25) and Master of the applications in 1755 (30 January) and the grand council president in 1761 (June 16), intendant of Moulins in 1762 (September 3) at Rennes in 1765 (May 31) , then in Lyon November 11, 1767, State Councillor and finally in 1784 before becoming the last provost of the merchants of Paris in 1789. He continued with the Duke d'Aguillon and the Comte de Saint Florentin The Chalotais and was rewarded by his appointment to the stewardship of Lyon .
Appointed intendant of Lyon, he is loved for his gentleness, his decency and his zeal for the interests of this great city. Hostile outdated administrative structures (Consulate Lyon, "elect" responsible for allocating the size), it encroaches on their responsibilities to improve the distribution of the tax, including chore . It promotes freedom of trade, manufacturing facility, improving agriculture and contributes to the development of the veterinary school of Lyon.
He gives lavish receptions at the hotel stewardship to conquer high society Lyon, not for expenses without receiving severe criticisms of the Comptroller General of Finance. It encourages the work of the Academy of Lyon, where he became director in 1771: he founded several awards including one for the development of dyeing silk black. It also looks at technological discoveries in 1783 and 1784 are held in Lyon on tests steamer or "pyroscaphe" of Jouffroy d'Abbans and balloon Montgolfier brothers . While the balloon dubbed The Flesselles rises into the air, we learn his appointment in Paris .
April 21, 1789 , he was called to succeed Louis Le Peletier as provost of the merchants of Paris , a position equivalent to that of mayor today. May 27, voters in three levels of the city asking to sit at the town hall and participate in the management of the city, what Jacques Flesselles refuses to be illegal, supported by the Ministry of Jacques Necker . June 25, the request is renewed, under public pressure, Jacques de Flesselles allows twelve of these voters to join the municipality in place. The first session of this "meeting" takes place July 13. Jacques de Flesselles is elected president. Under pressure from the crowd, he should accept the creation of a civic guard and announced that 12 000 guns are coming from Charleville to equip the troops. But it does not happen and he is accused of concealing the people the existence of five thousand pounds of powder discovered on a boat at Port Saint-Nicolas, being the author of all false hopes that are at the height of irritation of spirits .
On July 14 , the beginning of the storming of the Bastille , the insurrectionary committee installed at the Palais-Royal sends a delegate to ask for arms to the town hall . Having found no weapons but a compromise bill sent by the provost to the governor of the fortress - "I amuse the Parisians with roundels and promises, stand firm until the evening and you'll reinforcement" - the insurrectionary committee accuses Jacques Flesselles of connivance with the court and he is invited to be justified. We read in his presence to the ticket committee of voters. One member of the committee said, "Get out, Monsieur de Flesselles, you're a traitor, you betrayed the homeland, the country abandon you. "
The members decided to take him to the Palais-Royal to be tried there. Jacques de Flesselles fate without trying to defend itself, surrounded by the crowd, which does him no violence, however, he crossed the Place de Greve, where at the corner of the dock, a young man approached, saying: "Traitor, you will not go away "and kills him with a pistol. He was decapitated and his head placed on a pike, is paraded through the streets.
"TO CHANGE MYSELF, I'D RATHER DIE. THOUGH THEY WILL NOT UNDERSTAND. I WON'T MAKE THE GREATEST SACRIFICE."
